Viramune XR Medication Information

Viramune® XR™ (nevirapine XR) is a medication prescribed for the treatment of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS) in adults.

This medicine comes in the form of an extended-release tablet, and is only taken once daily. However, you should not use Viramune XR by itself; it is only approved for use with other HIV medications as part of an HIV "cocktail."

While the drug may be an effective treatment for HIV and AIDS, it is not a cure for these conditions and not everyone should take this medication. Information on Viramune XR should be discussed with your healthcare provider before starting treatment to minimize risks and to help ensure safe treatment. For example, you may not be able to take this medicine if you have liver problems or certain allergies.

(Click Viramune XR for more information, including a detailed description of the drug's effects, a list of potential side effects that may occur with treatment, and dosing tips on when and how to take this medication.)
