Atripla Drug Interactions

If you take diltiazem, warfarin, or certain seizure medications with Atripla, drug interactions may occur. These potentially negative interactions may interfere with the kidneys' ability to remove Atripla from the blood, which could lead to increased blood levels of Atripla and increased risk of side effects. Other medicines that can cause Atripla drug interactions include atazanavir, pimozide, hormonal contraceptives, and statins.

 

Atripla Drug Interactions: An Overview

Atripla™ (efavirenz, emtricitabine, and tenofovir disoproxil fumarate) can potentially interact with several other medicines. Some of the medicines that may lead to Atripla drug interactions include:
 
 
    • Azithromycin (Zithromax®)
    • Clarithromycin (Biaxin®)
    • Fluconazole (Diflucan®)
    • Ketoconazole (Nizoral®)
    • Itraconazole (Sporanox®)
    • Rifabutin (Mycobutin®)
    • Rifampin (Rifadin®)
    • Voriconazole (Vfend®)
 
  • Certain benzodiazepine medications, such as:
 
 
  • Certain seizure medications, such as:
 
 
 
    • Bromocriptine (Parlodel®)
    • Dihydroergotamine (Migranal®)
    • Ergotamine (Bellamine S®, Cafergot®, Ergomar®)
    • Pergolide (Permax®)
 
 
 
  • Methadone (Dolophine®, Methadose®)
  • Pimozide (Orap®)
  • Protease inhibitors, such as:
