Crixivan Interactions Explained

The following sections explain in detail the potentially negative interactions that can occur when Crixivan is combined with any of the drugs listed above.
 
Alfuzosin
Crixivan should not be combined with alfuzosin, as this may increase the amount of alfuzosin in the blood to dangerous levels.
 
Bosentan
Crixivan may increase the level of bosentan in your blood. Your healthcare provider may need to lower your bosentan dosage while you are taking Crixivan.
  
Certain Antibiotics or Antifungals
Combining Crixivan with certain antibiotics or antifungals may increase or decrease the level of both Crixivan and the antibiotic or antifungal in your blood. Check with your healthcare provider before taking Crixivan with any of these medications. Crixivan should never be combined with rifampin, since rifampin may make Crixivan less effective.
 
Certain Arrhythmia Medications
Crixivan may increase the level of certain arrhythmia medications in your blood, increasing the risk of dangerous side effects. Talk with your healthcare provider before taking Crixivan with one of these medications. Crixivan should never be combined with amiodarone, due to the risk of life-threatening reactions.
 
Certain Benzodiazepines
Crixivan should not be combined with alprazolam, midazolam, or triazolam, due to the risk of life-threatening reactions.
 
Certain Calcium Channel Blockers
Crixivan may increase the level of certain calcium channel blockers in your blood, increasing the risk of side effects. Your healthcare provider may need to lower the dose of your calcium channel blocker.
 
Colchicine
Crixivan may increase the level of colchicine in your blood. Your healthcare provider may need to lower your colchicine dosage while you are taking Crixivan.
  
Delavirdine (Rescriptor)
Delavirdine increases the level of Crixivan in your blood. The lower Crixivan dosage (Crixivan 600 mg every eight hours) is usually recommended if you are taking delavirdine.
