Other Medicines That Can React With Crixivan

Didanosine (Videx)
Didanosine oral solution (but not didanosine capsules) can decrease absorption of Crixivan into your body, perhaps making it less effective. Make sure to take these medications at least one hour apart.
 
Efavirenz (Sustiva)
Efavirenz can lower the level of Crixivan in your blood, making it less effective. Your healthcare provider may need to increase your Crixivan dosage or recommend a different combination of medications.
 
Ergot Medications
Crixivan should not be combined with ergot medications, due to the risk of dangerous side effects.
 
Fluticasone
Crixivan may increase the level of fluticasone in your blood. Check with your healthcare provider before taking Crixivan with fluticasone.
 
Immune-Suppressing Medications
Crixivan may increase the level of some immune-suppressing medications in your blood. Your healthcare provider may need to decrease the dose of your immune-suppressing medication.
 
Nevirapine (Viramune)
Nevirapine can decrease the level of Crixivan in your blood. Your healthcare provider may need to increase your Crixivan dosage or recommend a different combination of medications.
 
Other Protease Inhibitors
Taking Crixivan together with another protease inhibitor may increase the level of both medications in your blood. Check with your healthcare provider before taking two protease inhibitors together.
 
Phosphodiesterase Type 5 Inhibitors (PDE5 Inhibitors)
Crixivan can increase the level of PDE5 inhibitors in your blood, increasing your risk of side effects. You should not take more than 25 mg of sildenafil (for erectile dysfunction treatment) in 48 hours, 10 mg of tadalafil (for erectile dysfunction treatment) in 72 hours, or 2.5 mg of vardenafil in 24 hours while taking Crixivan.
 
At this time, it is recommended that if you take sildenafil for the purpose of treating pulmonary arterial hypertension, you should not take Crixivan. When combining tadalafil for the purpose of treating pulmonary arterial hypertension with Crixivan, the initial tadalafil dosage should be 20 mg once daily and may be adjusted up to 40 mg once daily as necessary and tolerated.
  
Pimozide (Orap)
Pimozide and Crixivan should not be taken together, due to the risk of dangerous reactions.
 
Salmeterol
Combining salmeterol with Crixivan may increase the risk of serious side effects of salmeterol, especially heart problems. Check with your healthcare provider before combining such medications. In general, these medications should not be combined.
  
Seizure Medications
Some seizure medications can decrease the level of Crixivan in your blood, perhaps making it less effective. Check with your healthcare provider before taking Crixivan with a seizure medication.
