Drug Interactions With Dronabinol

If phenobarbital, muscle relaxants, or narcotic pain relievers are combined with dronabinol, drug interactions can occur. These can be serious, leading to an increased risk of side effects. If certain medications must be taken with dronabinol, your healthcare provider will likely monitor your condition more carefully. You can help prevent problems by making sure your healthcare provider knows about your current medications and whether you drink alcohol.

An Overview of Dronabinol Interactions

Dronabinol (Marinol®) can react with other medications. Some of the drugs that might interact with dronabinol include:
 
 
  • Barbiturates, such as:
     
    • Amobarbital (Amytal®)
    • Butalbital (Fioricet®, Fiorinal®)
    • Pentobarbital (Nembutal®)
    • Phenobarbital (Luminal®)
    • Secobarbital (Seconal®)
 
  • Medications that cause drowsiness, such as:
