Lamivudine
In general, Emtriva should not be taken with medications that contain lamivudine, as Emtriva and lamivudine are very similar medications.
 
Other Emtricitabine Medications
In general, Emtriva should not be combined with other medications that contain emtricitabine. Check with your healthcare provider before taking Emtriva with other medications that contain emtricitabine.
 
Ribavirin (Copegus, Rebetol, Ribasphere, Virazole)
Combining ribavirin with Emtriva can increase the risk of serious side effects. In general, this combination of medications should be avoided if possible.
 
Valganciclovir (Valcyte)
Combining valganciclovir with Emtriva may increase your risk of Emtriva side effects, particularly the side effects that affect blood cells. Your healthcare provider may need to closely monitor your blood counts.
