Strengths of Epoetin Alfa

Epoetin alfa comes in single-dose vials (which do not contain preservatives) and multi-dose vials (which contain preservatives). Epoetin alfa single-dose vials are available in the following strengths, each containing 1 mL of epoetin alfa solution:
 
  • Epoetin alfa 2,000 units per mL
  • Epoetin alfa 3,000 units per mL
  • Epoetin alfa 4,000 units per mL
  • Epoetin alfa 10,000 units per mL
  • Epoetin alfa 40,000 units per mL.
     
Epoetin alfa multi-dose vials are available in the following strengths:
 
  • Epoetin alfa 10,000 units per mL (2 mL vials, for a total of 20,000 units in each vial)
  • Epoetin alfa 20,000 units per mL (1 mL vials, for a total of 20,000 units in each vial).
     

Is There a Generic Version of Epoetin Alfa?

Currently, there is no generic epoetin alfa licensed for sale (see Generic Epogen).
