What You Need to Know About Hivid

When and How to Take Hivid

Some general considerations for when and how to take Hivid include the following:
  • Hivid comes in the form of a tablet. It is usually taken by mouth every eight hours (three times a day).
  • Hivid is best absorbed into your body if you take it on an empty stomach (at least one hour before or two hours after eating).
  • Try to take Hivid at the same times every day, to maintain an even level of the medication in your blood.
  • For the medication to work properly, it must be taken as prescribed. It is very important that you closely follow your healthcare provider's instructions for taking Hivid. Missing doses can increase the chance of the virus developing a resistance to Hivid (making it less effective).

Hivid Dosing Information

The dose of Hivid your healthcare provider recommends will vary depending on a number of factors, including:
  • If you develop bothersome or dangerous side effects of Hivid
  • Other medical conditions you may have
  • Other medications you may currently be taking.
As always, do not adjust your Hivid dose unless your healthcare provider specifically instructs you to do so.

Side Effects of Hivid

As with any medicine, side effects are possible with Hivid. However, not everyone who takes the drug will experience side effects. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well. If side effects do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or can easily be treated by you or your healthcare provider. Serious side effects are less common.
Common side effects of Hivid include, but are not limited to:
  • Unusual sensations (like burning, tingling, or numbness) in the feet or hands
  • Liver problems
  • Fatigue
  • Nausea and vomiting.
