When to Consider an Alternative to Invirase

Who Should Not Take Invirase?

You should not take Invirase if you:
 
  • Are allergic to Invirase, saquinavir mesylate, or any of the inactive components used to make the medication. Your healthcare provider or pharmacist has a list of the inactive components.
     
  • Have severe liver disease.
     
  • Take any of the medications that should never be taken with Invirase (see Invirase Drug Interactions).

 

  • Have an irregular heart rhythm known as long QT syndrome.
     
  • Have low blood potassium or magnesium that is not responsive to treatment.
     
  • Have a heart problem known as complete atrioventricular block (AV block), unless you have a pacemaker.
