Isentress Dosage

The standard recommended Isentress dosage for adults with HIV or AIDS is one 400-mg tablet twice daily. You should take Isentress at the same times each day to maintain an even level in your blood. In addition, it is important that you not miss your Isentress dosage, as missing doses can increase the risk of the HIV virus becoming resistant to the medication.

 

Isentress Dosage: An Introduction

There is only one standard dose of Isentress™ (raltegravir). As always, do not adjust your dose unless your healthcare provider specifically instructs you to do so.

The recommended dose of Isentress for treating adults with HIV or AIDS is Isentress 400 mg twice daily.
 

General Information on Dosing With Isentress

Considerations for people taking Isentress include the following:
 
  • The medication comes in tablet form. It is usually taken by mouth twice daily.
     
  • You can take Isentress with or without food. If the medication bothers your stomach, try taking it with food.
     
  • Try to take Isentress at the same times every day to maintain an even level in your blood.
     
  • For the medication to work properly, it must be taken as prescribed. It is very important that you closely follow your healthcare provider's instructions on taking Isentress. Missing doses can increase the chance of the virus developing a resistance to the drug, thereby making it less effective.
     
  • If you are unsure about anything related to your Isentress dosage, please talk to your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist. Do not stop taking the drug without first discussing it with your healthcare provider.
