More Details on Isentress

What Should I Do If I Miss a Dose?

It is very important that you not miss Isentress doses. If you do not take your Isentress as scheduled, take the missed dose as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Be sure to tell your healthcare provider if you are having trouble remembering to take your HIV medications.

Isentress comes in the following forms and strengths:
  • Isentress 25 mg chewable tablets
  • Isentress 100 mg chewable tablets
  • Isentress 400 mg tablets (not chewable)
  • Isentress for oral suspension 100 mg packets (which contain banana-flavored powder that is mixed with water before each dose).
The regular tablets and the chewable tablets or the oral suspension are not bioequivalent. This means that four 100-mg chewable tablets (or four 100-mg oral suspension packets) will not provide the same dosage as one 400-mg regular tablet due to differences in absorption. As a result, the two forms are not interchangeable.

Is There a Generic Version of Isentress?

Currently, there are no generic versions of Isentress licensed for sale (see Generic Isentress).
