Kaletra Dosage

The recommended Kaletra dosage for people who have previously tried HIV medications is 400 mg/100 mg twice daily. If you have never taken HIV medications before, two dosing options are available; you can either take 400 mg/100 mg twice daily or 800 mg/200 mg once daily. If you are taking certain other HIV medications, your healthcare provider may recommend a higher Kaletra dose.

Kaletra Dosage: An Introduction

The dose of Kaletra® (lopinavir and ritonavir) that your healthcare provider recommends will vary, depending on a number of factors, including:

  • Your age
  • Your weight (for children)
  • Other medical conditions you may have
  • Other medications you may be currently taking.

As always, do not adjust your dose unless your healthcare provider specifically instructs you to do so.

Kaletra Dosage for Adults

The recommended dose of Kaletra for treating adults with HIV or AIDS depends on whether you have taken HIV medications before. If you have not taken HIV medications before, there are a few different Kaletra dosing options, including:

  • Kaletra 400 mg/100 mg (two tablets or 5 mL of oral solution) twice daily
  • Kaletra 800 mg/200 mg (four tablets or 10 mL of oral solution) once daily.

If you have already tried other HIV medications, the once-daily dosing is not recommended. Therefore, the recommended dose of Kaletra for people who have been on other HIV medications is Kaletra 400 mg/100 mg (two tablets or 5 mL of oral solution) twice daily.

Your healthcare provider may suggest a higher dose if you are taking certain other HIV medications (see Kaletra Drug Interactions).
