Taking Lexiva With Other Drugs

Lexiva Interactions Explained

The following sections explain in detail the potentially negative interactions that can occur when Lexiva is combined with any of the drugs listed above.

Alfuzosin
Lexiva should not be combined with alfuzosin, as this may increase the amount of alfuzosin in the blood to dangerous levels.

Arrhythmia Medications
Lexiva may increase the level of certain arrhythmia medications in your blood, possibly increasing the risk of dangerous side effects. Talk with your healthcare provider before taking Lexiva with one of these medications. Lexiva should never be combined with flecainide (Tambocor™) or propafenone (Rythmol®), due to the risk of life-threatening side effects.

Bosentan
Lexiva may increase the level of bosentan in your blood. Your healthcare provider may need to lower your bosentan dosage while you are taking Lexiva.

Certain Antibiotics or Antifungals
Combining Lexiva with certain antibiotics or antifungals may increase the level of the antibiotic or antifungal in your blood. Check with your healthcare provider before taking Lexiva with any of these medications. It should never be combined with rifampin, since rifampin may make Lexiva less effective.

Certain Benzodiazepines
Lexiva should not be combined with midazolam or triazolam, due to the risk of life-threatening reactions. Lexiva may be combined with other benzodiazepines, although your healthcare provider may need to decrease the dose of your benzodiazepine to prevent interactions from occurring.

Certain Calcium Channel Blockers
Lexiva may increase the level of calcium channel blockers in your blood, possibly increasing the risk of side effects. Your healthcare provider may need to lower the dose of your calcium channel blocker to prevent this.

Colchicine
Lexiva may increase the level of colchicine in your blood. Your healthcare provider may need to lower your colchicine dosage while you are taking Lexiva.

Delavirdine
Taking delavirdine with Lexiva can make both medications less effective. For this reason, these medications should not be used together.
