When and How to Take Lexiva
General considerations for when and how to take Lexiva include the following:
- The medication comes in tablet and oral suspension (liquid) form. It is usually taken by mouth once or twice a day.
- You can take Lexiva tablets with or without food. However, adults should take Lexiva suspension without food, while children should take Lexiva suspension with food.
- If you vomit within 30 minutes of taking Lexiva, you should take another dose, as you probably vomited up the medicine.
- Be sure to shake Lexiva suspension well before each dose.
- Try to take Lexiva at the same time(s) every day to maintain an even level in your blood.
- For the medication to work properly, it must be taken as prescribed. It is very important that you closely follow your healthcare provider's instructions about taking Lexiva. Missing doses can increase the chance of the virus developing resistance to the drug, thereby making it less effective.
