AIDS Home > Can I Take My Current Medications With Liposomal Doxorubicin?
Phenytoin (Dilantin, Phenytek)
Liposomal doxorubicin may decrease the level of phenytoin in your blood, perhaps making it less effective. Your healthcare provider may need to monitor your phenytoin levels and adjust your dosage as necessary.
Streptozocin may increase the level of liposomal doxorubicin in your blood, increasing your risk of side effects. Talk to your healthcare provider about the benefits and risks of using these medications together.
Taking trastuzumab with liposomal doxorubicin can increase your risk of congestive heart failure (CHF). In general, these medications should not be taken together.
Verapamil (Calan, Calan SR, Covera-HS, Isoptin SR, Verelan, Verelan PM)
Combining verapamil with liposomal doxorubicin may increase the risk of side effects of liposomal doxorubicin, particularly those that affect the heart. Talk to your healthcare provider before taking these medications together.
