AIDS Home > Can I Take My Medications With Prezista?

Some Seizure Medications
Prezista should never be used in combination with carbamazepine, phenobarbital, or phenytoin, as these medications may make Prezista less effective.
Some Statin Medications
Prezista should never be combined with lovastatin or simvastatin, due to the risk of dangerous side effects. Since Prezista may increase the level of atorvastatin, rosuvastatin, or pravastatin in your blood, your healthcare provider may recommend a lower dosage of these medications while you are taking Prezista.
St. John's Wort
Because St. John's wort can greatly reduce the level of Prezista in your blood, Prezista should never be taken with it.
Trazodone (Desyrel) or Trazodone ER (Oleptro)
Prezista can increase the level of trazodone in your blood. Check with your healthcare provider before taking these medications together.
Prezista can decrease the level of warfarin in your blood, potentially increasing your risk of blood clots. Your healthcare provider may need to monitor you more closely and adjust your warfarin dosage as necessary if you are taking both of these medications.

Final Thoughts on Prezista Drug Interactions

It is possible that not every drug interaction was discussed in this article. Therefore, you should talk with your pharmacist or healthcare provider about the Prezista drug interactions that may apply to you.
