Megace and Stroke

If you develop vision or speech changes, numbness in an arm or leg, or other signs of a stroke while taking Megace® (megestrol acetate), contact your healthcare provider for immediate medical treatment. Although most people tolerate this medication well, serious side effects such as these can occur and need to be treated right away.

To help avoid complications, make sure to let your healthcare provider know if you have ever had a blood clot or a stroke before beginning treatment with Megace. Although this medication can be an effective treatment for many people, it is not safe and effective for everyone.

Other common side effects of Megace include diarrhea, weakness, and insomnia. If you are taking this drug and experience anything that "just does not seem right," let your healthcare provider know right away.
