Megace Oral

Available by prescription only, Megace® (megestrol acetate) comes as an oral suspension or a tablet. It is used in the treatment of acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS), breast cancer, and endometrial cancer (cancer of the lining of the uterus).
 
Megace oral suspension is usually taken once daily and is approved to treat appetite loss, muscle wasting, and significant weight loss associated with AIDS. The tablets are approved to help relieve symptoms caused by breast cancer or endometrial cancer.
 
Although most people tolerate this medication well, some people may develop side effects. Common reactions to this medication include diarrhea, a rash, and gas.
