Drug Combinations With Prezista to Avoid

Methadone
Prezista can decrease the level of methadone in your blood, making it less effective. Your healthcare provider may need to increase your methadone dosage to prevent this from occurring.
 
Oral Contraceptives
Prezista may make oral contraceptives less effective. You should use a non-hormonal method of contraception (such as condoms) while taking Prezista.
 
Paroxetine
Prezista can decrease the level of paroxetine in your blood. Your healthcare provider may need to increase your paroxetine dosage to prevent this drug interaction from occurring.
 
Phosphodiesterase Type 5 Inhibitors (PDE5 Inhibitors)
Prezista can increase the level of PDE5 inhibitors in your blood, increasing your risk of side effects. You should not take more than 25 mg of sildenafil (for erectile dysfunction treatment) in 48 hours, 10 mg of tadalafil (for erectile dysfunction treatment) in 72 hours, or 2.5 mg of vardenafil in 72 hours while taking Prezista.
 
At this time, it is recommended that if you take sildenafil for the purpose of treating pulmonary arterial hypertension, you should not take Prezista. When combining tadalafil for the purpose of treating pulmonary arterial hypertension with Prezista, the initial tadalafil dosage should be 20 mg once daily and may be adjusted up to 40 mg once daily as necessary and tolerated.
  
Pimozide
Pimozide and Prezista should not be taken together, due to the risk of dangerous reactions.
 
Salmeterol
Combining salmeterol with Prezista may increase the risk of serious side effects of salmeterol, especially heart problems. Check with your healthcare provider before combining such medications. In general, these medications should not be combined.
  
Sertraline
Prezista can decrease the level of sertraline in your blood. Your healthcare provider may need to increase your sertraline dosage to prevent this interaction from occurring.
