Prezista Drug Interactions

If calcium channel blockers, immune-suppressing medications, or certain benzodiazepines are taken with Prezista, drug interactions could occur. These potentially negative drug interactions can reduce the effectiveness of the medicines or increase your risk of developing dangerous side effects. Other medications that can cause drug interactions with Prezista include efavirenz, paroxetine, warfarin, and trazodone.

 

Prezista Drug Interactions: An Overview

Prezista™ (darunavir ethanolate) can potentially interact with several other medicines. Some of the medicines that may lead to Prezista drug interactions include:
 
 
 
  • Certain antibiotics and antifungal medications, such as:
 
    • Clarithromycin (Biaxin®)
    • Ketoconazole (Nizoral®)
    • Itraconazole (Sporanox®)
    • Rifabutin (Mycobutin®)
    • Rifampin (Rifadin®)
    • Voriconazole (Vfend®)
 
  • Certain arrhythmia medications, such as:
 
    • Amiodarone (Cordarone®)
    • Lidocaine
    • Quinidine
 
  • Certain benzodiazepines, such as:
 
 
  • Certain other protease inhibitors, such as:
 
 
 
 
  • Ergot medications, such as:
 
    • Bromocriptine (Parlodel®)
    • Dihydroergotamine (Migranal®)
    • Ergonovine
    • Ergotamine (Bellamine S®, Cafergot®, Ergomar®)
    • Methylergonovine (Methergine®)
    • Pergolide (Permax®)
 
  • Fluticasone (Flonase®, Flovent®, Veramyst®) or combination medications that contain fluticasone (Advair®)
  • Immune-suppressing medications, such as:
 
    • Cyclosporine (Gengraf®, Neoral®, Sandimmune®)
    • Sirolimus (Rapamune®)
