Rescriptor Drug Interactions

Ergot medications, amphetamines, and calcium channel blockers typically should not be taken with Rescriptor. Drug interactions may occur if these medicines are combined that could increase your risk for serious side effects or reduce the medicines' effectiveness. Many other medications can cause negative Rescriptor drug interactions, so tell your healthcare provider about all other medications you are taking.

 

Rescriptor Drug Interactions: An Overview

Rescriptor® (delavirdine mesylate) can potentially interact with several other medicines. Some of the medicines that may lead to Rescriptor drug interactions include:
 
  • Amphetamines, including many illegal drugs and most attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) medications
  • Antacids or acid-reducing medications
  • Certain arrhythmia medications, such as:
 
    • Amiodarone (Cordarone®)
    • Lidocaine
    • Quinidine
    • Flecainide (Tambocor®)
    • Propafenone (Rhythmol®)
 
  • Certain benzodiazepine medications, such as:
 
 
  • Certain seizure medications, such as:
 
 
 
 
  • Clarithromycin (Biaxin®)
  • Cyclosporine (Gengraf®, Neoral®, Sandimmune®)
  • Dexamethasone (Decadron®)
  • Didanosine (Videx®)
  • Ergot medications, such as:
 
    • Bromocriptine (Parlodel®)
    • Dihydroergotamine (Migranal®)
    • Ergotamine (Bellamine S®, Cafergot®, Ergomar®)
