What If I Take an Overdose of Retrovir?

It is not known exactly what to expect from an overdose with Retrovir, other than the usual side effects, which might occur more severely. If you happen to take too much, seek immediate medical attention.

How Should This Medication Be Stored?

Retrovir should be stored at room temperature, away from moisture and heat. Keep the capsules, tablets, and syrup in an airtight container.
 
Keep Retrovir and all other medications out of the reach of children.
 

What Should I Do If I Miss a Dose of Retrovir?

It is very important that you not miss any doses. If you do not take your Retrovir as scheduled, take it as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the one you missed and continue with your regular schedule. Be sure to tell your healthcare provider if you are having trouble remembering to take your HIV medications.
 

Available Strengths

Retrovir comes in the following strengths and forms:
 
  • Retrovir 100 mg capsules
  • Retrovir 300 mg tablets
  • Retrovir syrup, containing 10 mg of medication per mL (equivalent to 50 mg per teaspoonful)
  • Retrovir injection.
