Generic Reyataz

There are currently no generic Reyataz products available. While a number of companies may claim to sell a generic version of the drug, these medicines may be fake, substandard, and potentially dangerous. Until the patent for Reyataz expires in April 2017 and other drug companies are allowed to manufacture a generic version, do not purchase any so-called "generic Reyataz" drugs.

 

Generic Reyataz: An Overview

Reyataz® (atazanavir sulfate) is a prescription AIDS and HIV medication. It belongs to a class of medications known as protease inhibitors and is only approved for use in combination with other HIV medications.
 
Reyataz is made by Bristol-Myers Squibb Company. It is currently under the protection of patents that prevent any generic Reyataz from being manufactured in the United States. Yet, if you search the Internet for "generic Reyataz," you may find a number of companies selling it. The fact is that these medicines may be fake, substandard, and potentially dangerous. Generic Reyataz may be available from another country, but there is really no way of knowing whether you are actually getting genuine Reyataz. You should not buy any so-called generic Reyataz until there is an approved version available.
 

When Will Generic Reyataz Be Available?

The first patent for Reyataz currently expires in April 2017. This is the earliest possible date that a generic version of the drug could become available. However, other circumstances could come up to extend the exclusivity period beyond 2017. This could include such things as other patents for specific Reyataz uses or lawsuits. Once the patent expires, several companies will likely begin manufacturing a generic Reyataz drug.
