Ganciclovir (Cytovene)
Combining ganciclovir with
Videx may increase the level of Videx in your blood and may increase your risk of
Videx side effects, particularly the side effects that affect blood cells. Your healthcare provider may need to monitor you more closely.
Hydroxyurea (Droxia, Hydrea, Mylocel)
Taking hydroxyurea with Videx may increase your risk of inflammation of the
pancreas (
pancreatitis), which can be very dangerous. Check with your healthcare provider before taking these medications together.
Indinavir (Crixivan)
Videx oral solution (but not Videx EC capsules) can decrease the absorption of
indinavir into your body, perhaps making it less effective. Make sure to take indinavir at least one hour before taking Videx oral solution.
Methadone (Dolophine, Methadose)
Methadone may decrease the level of Videx in your blood, perhaps decreasing its effectiveness. Check with your healthcare provider before taking methadone with Videx.
Nelfinavir (Viracept)
Videx oral solution (but not Videx EC capsules) can decrease the absorption of
nelfinavir into your body, perhaps making it less effective. Make sure to take nelfinavir at least one hour after taking Videx oral solution.
Ribavirin (Copegus, Rebetol, Ribasphere, Virazole)
Combining ribavirin with Videx can increase the risk of serious side effects. In general, this combination of medications should be avoided if possible.
Stavudine (Zerit)
Taking
stavudine with Videx may increase your risk of inflammation of the pancreas (pancreatitis), which can be very dangerous. Check with your healthcare provider before taking these medications together.
