Videx (Cont.)

When and How to Take Videx

Some general considerations for when and how to take Videx include the following:

  • Videx comes in the form of delayed-release capsules (Videx EC) and as an oral solution (liquid). It is usually taken by mouth once or twice a day (depending on the particular product).

  • It is very important that you take Videx on an empty stomach, at least 30 minutes before or 2 hours after a meal.

  • Videx EC capsules must be swallowed whole. Do not chew, crush, or open Videx EC capsules.

  • Try to take Videx at the same time(s) every day to maintain an even level of the medication in your blood.

  • For the medication to work properly, it must be taken as prescribed. It is very important that you closely follow your healthcare provider's instructions for taking Videx. Missing doses can increase the chance of the virus developing a resistance to Videx (making it less effective).

Videx Dosing Information

The dose of Videx your healthcare provider recommends will vary depending on a number of factors, including:

  • Your age
  • Your weight
  • Other medical conditions you may have
  • Other medications you may currently be taking.

As always, do not adjust your Videx dose unless your healthcare provider specifically instructs you to do so.
